Pfaff
It was 1862, when Georg Michael Pfaff built his first sewing machine. G.M. Pfaff, originally from a family of craftsmen from Kaiserlautern, knew how to make brass musical instruments. His products won several awards at the London World's Fair in 1851 and 1852, in recognition of their excellent quality. It was at this time that G.M. Pfaff began to turn his attention to sewing machines.
He built his first sewing machine in 1862, completely by hand.
This machine can now be found in the Munich Museum of Science and Technology.
In 1910 the millionth sewing machine came out of the factory.
Pfaff in 1960 it became a joint-stock company and moved the production of sewing machines for domestic use from Kaiserlautern to Karlsruhe Durlach.
The international sales network gradually grew until the 70s and 80s, and new markets were created. Pfaff today it remains one of the leading manufacturers of sewing machines.
