Elastic foot
This foot guides, elastic curtains from 6 to 12 mm wide and applies them in one operation. It is used for sportswear, lingerie and other elastic insertion techniques.
Utilization:
- Set the numbered gray presser foot knob to 3 or 4. Line up the number with the small metal arrow. The higher the number, the tighter the elastic will be pulled. The stiffness of the elastic will affect the result.
- Push the gray roller slightly toward the numbered gray knob and lift it up.
- Insert the elastic into the opening slot at the base of the presser foot.
- Rotate the roller until the center groove of the roller matches the width of the elastic; in this way the elastic will be guided straight.
- Bring the roller down on the elastic and snap it into place by pushing it gently away from the numbered knob.
- Insert the elastic foot into the sewing machine. Set the machine for a smooth zigzag stitch. Adjust the stitch width according to the width of the elastic and the length according to the quality of the elastic and the type of gathering you want to achieve.
- Engage the IDT.
- Place the fabric under the presser foot and sew. The fabric will curl up as the elastic is stretched and sewn.
