The invisible hinge is the only hinge that is not noticeable. As the name suggests, it disappears into the seam and is no longer seen. For this reason it is sewn mainly on elegant garments and refined fabrics, such as evening dresses, but it is also sewn on skirts, blouses, etc.

With the special foot for invisible zippers of Pfaff they are very easy to sew!

HOW TO SEW INVISIBLE ZIPPERS ?

1. With chalk or an evanescent marker mark on the obverse of the cloth the length of the opening for the zipper, on both sides. The zipper should be 2 - 3 cm longer than the opening in which it will be sewn.
2. Insert the zipper foot of your sewing machine and select the straight stitch, with the needle in the center. The stitch length is 2.5 to 3.0 mm.
3. Open the zipper and flatten the teeth with your thumb, so that you have freed the sewing area, which is right attached to the teeth. It is not necessary to iron the zipper.
4. Put the straight of the hinge on the obverse of the opening. The teeth of the zipper should be located on the drawn seam line and start about 1.5 - 2 cm below the upper edge of the fabric. If necessary, pin with pins. Assiscurati that the hinge exceeds
by 2 - 3 cm the end of the opening.
5. Push the teeth of the zipper gently to the right and place the foot on the zipper so that the teeth are in the groove and to the right of the needle.
6. Sew the zipper from the top to the end of the opening you marked and secure the seam. Close the zipper.
7. Now place the other part of the hinge on the straight of the left side of the opening (always straight against straight).
8. Both sides with teeth should start at the same height. Pin and reopen the zipper.
9. Gently push the zipper teeth to the left and place the foot on the zipper so that the teeth are in the groove and to the left of the needle.
10. Sew the zipper from the top to the end of the opening you marked and secure the seam. Close the zipper.
11. Now close the seam under the zipper, from top to bottom. For this operation insert the standard foot of your sewing machine, so that the footholder and the foot itself
are well fixed to the right. Move the needle to the right.
12. Turn the free lower end of the zipper towards the seam edge and sew as tightly as possible to the last point of the zipper seam.
13. Stretch open seam edges.

Tip: If the zipper is very long, sew the teeth about 2 cm below the opening with the straight stitch or with a thick zigzag and cut the end of the zipper that comes out. Border the end of the zipper with a small piece of cloth.
