The closed spring foot for free-motion stitching allows for greater visibility around the foot in free-motion seam and quilting. Its closed, round shape prevents yarns and fabrics from getting stuck in the presser foot. The vertical and horizontal markings on the presser foot are useful as stitch guides. The spring action prevents the fabric from lifting along with the needle during stitch formation, reducing thread breaks on special or heavier fabrics.

GUIDELINES:

1. Fully loosen the screw of the foot attachment and remove the attachment. Insert the closed spring foot for free-motion stitching into the spring foot bar and secure it with the screw.

Tip: Lower the needle slightly to make it easier to position the metal guide on the presser foot in the correct position on the needle lock.

2. Thread the machine.

3. Choose the straight stitch in the center needle position.

4. Set the HUSQVARNA VIKING sewing machine to Spring-Loaded Foot Freehand mode. The jaws are lowered automatically.

Note: When the feed dogs are lowered, the machine no longer carries the fabric. You need to move the fabric manually.

5. Bring the bobbin thread upwards making a stitch. Grab both threads and sew a few stitches in place to start.

6. Maintain a constant speed and move the fabric in a smooth motion. The length of the stitches is made by moving the fabric. Use the red markings on the presser foot as a guide.
